The editor states that the 17 essays in this book are concerned with poetry readings, the sound of poetry and the visual performance of poetry. They "offer original and wide-ranging elucidations of how twentieth-century poetry has been practiced as a performance art." Johanna Drucker contributed a chapter titled "Visual Performances of the Poetic Text" in which she describes and illustrates several poems of early 20th century visual poetry movements including an in depth analysis of "Poesie de mots inconnus" by Iliazd, a book that is held by the Sackner Archive. This book is an anthology of visual and picture poems made by students from kindergarten to the 12th grade living in Seattle, Washington. The poems and teaching methods are analyzed by the author who was a poet-in-residence in the school system in Seattle. The catalogue began with an historical introduction to text based works and included reproduced images of 20th century artists whose works are held by the Sackner Archive such as Apollinaire, Marinetti, Sabatier, Indiana, Kriwet, Augusto de Campos, Furnival, Finlay, Gomringer, Klaus-Peter Dienst, and Schuldt. The exhibition itself featured several artists whose works are held by the Sackner Archive, viz., Barton Lidice Benes, Howard Finster, Werner Hartmann, Stephanie Brody Lederman, Betty Tompkins, Regina Vater -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

The book reproduces 17 colored photomontages done by Rozkov in 1924 to illustrate Mayakovsky's poem, "To the Workers of Kursk who Extracted the First Ore - A Provisional Memorial of the Work of Vladimir Mayakovsky." These photomontages were included in an exhibition of Rozkov's work in 1930. Nothing is known about Rozkov's life. This book is stored on one of the 'M' shelves. Not listed in any library on the internet (2012). Includes an introductory essay by Vladimir Remes. Translation of Mayakovsky's 1923 poem into Czech by Jiri Taufer. Yuri Rozhkov, a student at the Vkhutemas State High School for Art and Design created the included color photomontages using lines from Mayakovsky's poem and presented them to the artist. They were included in Mayakovsky's 1928 exhibition "Twenty Years of Work." This exhibition was curated by Roberto Antolini for the Trento Biblioteca Comunale and the Bolzano Museum. He contributed one essay "Il Nuovo Libro Futurista" and with Melania Gazzotti a second one titled "Le Sperimentazioni delle Neoavanguardie Nella Seconda Meta del Novecento." A section of the catalogue contains illustrations of artists' books mainly from the 1970's. the last part of the catalogue consists of correspondence between Fedele Azari and Fortunato Depero.
